MOTOR YACHT GAIA has a history of great charm and interest behind it:
is a displacement shuttle built in the late 1950s at the German shipyard Schurenstedt. Originally named Kormoran built for a German shipowner as a pleasure M/Y, later sold to an Italian shipowner and transferred to the Mediterranean.
Over the years, it was acquired again by a Sicilian shipowner who, at the Rodriguez shipyard with the naval architect Biriaco, gave the shuttle its current configuration with the lengthening of the flybridge. The hull remains original to this day.
In the early 2000s, a new Italian owner kept the shuttle until 2008, when it was purchased by the current owner. The shuttle was in a covered storage in Genova Voltri, completely dismantled only with the new engines and generators (0 hours) mounted but not installed and with the supporting structures.
Since 2008, engines and generators have been installed by Cummins of S. Margherita Ligure. The interiors designed by the naval architect Alessio Liuni of Rome were made and assembled by a German carpentry.
In 2010 the shuttle was transferred to the Marina di Genova for the final installations and tests carried out by the Italian RINA. It was later recorded in Vienna.
All the on-board electronics were installed in 2009 and subsequently overhauled by Massimo Orlandini's Etruria Service of San Vincenzo (FI) in 2014.
Structured on three decks, Gaia is organized with a dining area at the stern of which, from a circular staircase, you can access the lower deck, which houses two cabins and two bathrooms. From the aft saloon, continuing towards the bow, on the left is the galley and then the bridge in an elevated position. There is also the main saloon, with a second circular staircase leading to the lower deck, reserved for the owner's cabin (full beam) and VIP. The flybridge has a bimini and a large sunbathing area, as well as a second helm station and a 5-meter tender. On deck, towards the bow, there is also a sailing dinghy of over 4 meters. Also towards the bow a companionway leads to the crew area (with two cabins).
The interiors have been furnished with maple wood and champagne-colored pearly lacquers (walls and furniture), while for the floors the main deck is characterized by a wenge wood in strong contrast with that of the walls and the lower deck by biscuit-colored carpeting. The ceilings are in Alcantara.
From 2008 to 2010
The Yacht has undergone a complete restoration in Italy, where new interiors have been created (the current ones) curated by the architect Alessio Liuni and equipped with all modern comforts as well as the installation of new engines and generators.
