The Sam Manuard designed Mach 40 V3 "Flamingo Rosso" is seriously for sale.
An evolution of the all conquering Mach 40, the V3 has a more powerful hull form particularly in the bow. they also have more centralised weight distribution.
Built using epoxy to class rules by JPS production in 2018 "Flamingo Rosso" is a fine example, she is ready to go for either Class 40 racing or just having a blast.
Designers comments on the Mach 40
This project - initiated by and for Aloys Claquin - brought together numerous skills and in particular those of Sandrine Lescaudron who put the final touches on the design of the appendages, those of Illy Brumer who provided the samples of the rigging and provided a innovative vision on this point and those of Remi Aubrun on the effectiveness of the sailing plan.
The plans were finalized following the 2010 Route du Rhum and with the aim of making a Large boat, so the aspects of comfort, protection and ergonomics were worked on accordingly. Consequently the deck plan is quite original.
For example, it seemed important to me to have a good view of the outside from inside the boat so as not to isolate yourself too much sensorially when you are inside the boat on standby. Being able to see your sails and have a vision towards the AV are important offshore when the conditions are harsh, the boat is under pilot and you have to adjust the sails or adjust the trajectory regularly so that the boat is as close as possible to its potential, as often as possible...
The cockpit area is divided into two areas. The deep and confined front part is dedicated to maneuvering as well as a watch station under the hood, the rear part is wider and shallower to provide an efficient helm station. The idea is to be able to maneuver safely and possibly be able to touch an adjustment without getting wet under the cover of the cap.
The boat benefits from careful construction - entirely made of epoxy infusion - a guarantee of Quality and Durability. The mainly transverse structure is abundant, the structural masses are concentrated around the CG of the boat. Sampling and construction comply with ISO 12215-5 cat A and OSR cat 0 criteria.
The rigging has an innovative geometry which allowed us to reduce its mass but more significantly to reduce its CG, which is important in optimizing the CLASS40 gauge. As a result, the bulb weight is reduced (less hydro drag) while achieving the maximum stability allowed by the gauge. Concentrating the masses, reducing the masses at the top, bottom and ends contribute to making a boat with good performance, aero and hydro disturbances linked to parasitic movements are limited.
The powerful hull is an evolution of the BM40 and my latest drawings of 650. The dynamic behavior of the boat is a priority, the evolution of the longi trim depending on the heel and the speed is a strong point of this boat.
The rudders can be raised for safety and performance reasons.
